AWTechnology is the leading independent provider of technology to the fire detection and alarm industry. We are based in the United Kingdom, but we operate world-wide.
Our main services are R&D, technical consultancy and the supply of specialist test equipment.
AWTechnology has a great deal of experience in designing, building and supplying smoke and heat detector test tunnels. We supplied our first simple tunnels in 1992. Since then we have developed the technology in airflow, aerosol control, aerosol measurement, detector interfacing, electronics and software. In the past we have supplied bespoke tunnels for calibrating detectors at major manufacturers (e.g. Tyco, Rafiki Protection), and for testing in laboratories of major approvals bodies (e.g. BSI, LPCB).
Based on this experience and know-how we developed the unique 1000 series test tunnel range, which was launched in 2007. These compact tunnels are to a standard design, and are supplied ready to operate. They are mainly intended for factory production control testing to EN54 requirements. The 1900 and 1950 tunnels are extended versions for calibrating optical detectors in large volume production. The larger 2000 series tunnels are mainly intended for use in approvals test laboratories, but can also be used for R&D within companies.
AWTechnology has a highly experienced multi-disciplinary engineering team, with well-equipped facilities based in the UK. We have a track record of developing technically and commercially successful products, and have been responsible for many innovations that are in widespread use today, including the first optical/heat multisensor fire detectors, two wire addressable systems with fully configurable alarm sounders, and the first electronically controlled alarm bell. The principals are involved in standards formation as members of BSI FSH/12 committees and as UK experts on CEN/TC72 working groups.
We also have experience in security detection and in other sensing applications. Our main strengths lie in providing cutting edge solutions in which intelligent signal processing is allied with environmental sensing.
